The Palazzo di Geta Agriturismo is located 32 miles south of Siena on the border of the villages of Castiglione d'Orcia and of Pienza, surrounded by the wide and enchanting landscape of the Val d'Orcia region.

The Val d'Orcia area became one of the Unesco World Heritage sites in March 2005. Here is the original justification reported in the Unesco web site:

Criterion (iv): The Val d'Orcia is an exceptional reflection of the way landscape was re-designed in Renaissance times to reflect the ideals of good governance and to create aesthetically pleasing pictures.

Criterion (vi): Painters from the Siennese School, which flourished during the Renaissance, celebrated landscape of the Val d'Orcia. Images of the Val d'Orcia, particularly depictions of landscapes in which people are shown living in harmony with nature, are now considered strongly representative of the Renaissance and have profoundly influenced the development of landscape thinking.

The view from the guesthouse enables you to see the profile of the beautiful historical centre of Pienza, a jewel of renaissance architecture, which became one of Unesco’s listed world heritage sites in 1997. Glancing in the opposite direction, one is faced with the majestic size of Monte Amiata, the tallest dormant volcano in Italy, whose flanks are now covered in dense forests of Beech and Chestnut oak.

The surrounding countryside can be admired as the most striking in all of Tuscany. The hosts have an entire house of 180sq meters available and the spaciousness and general luminosity of its internal environment can be greatly appreciated. Dear Efisio, Vittoria and Daniele, We wish to thank you that we were able to spend part of our vacation in your lovely farmhouse, Palazzo di Geta. We like the house very much, it was clean, quiet, well-equipped and has welcoming feeling. And we also have enough space for our family. The weather was beautiful and the evening's cooling wind in the yard was nice. We visited the nearby and slightly further villages and towns as Castiglione d'Orcia, S. Quirico d'Orcia, Pienza, Montelulciano, Buonconvento, Siena, Montereggioni, Cortona, Bagno Vignoni, Bagni S. Filippo where the girls swimmed in hot sources. The landscape was absolutely beautiful and we enjoy it a lot. The house location was also good when think about scenery. And we want to give special thanks to the lovely and so friendly owners Efisio and Vittoria. We did not have any common language but yet we understood each other somehow :) thanks to Efisio and Vittoria! After we left Palazzo di Geta we went to the nothern Tuscany, village call Gromignana.
